August 10 – Steel Parade
August 24 – Sligo Rags
Steel Parade has been rocking the SoCal area for over 20 years. They perform an average of 140+ shows a year. They have performed over 2,500 shows over the past 20 years, and are still going strong.
David Burns admits he leads a double life. Most of his advanced placement psychology students at Long Beach Poly High don’t know about it, but he has told his wife and children.
He’s a member of Sligo Rags, and the reason the band’s music sounds unusual is because it’s a hybrid of Celtic and bluegrass.
None of the four band members are from Ireland, nor have any of them ever been to Ireland, but they perform traditional Irish songs, along with originals the audience usually can’t separate from the folksongs.
