Beer festivals brew some sudsy fun in Long Beach, Newport Beach today

There’s a couple interesting beer festivals Saturday to help kick the Memorial Holiday weekend off.

Emily Thornton gives us the Long Beach info on an interesting Saturday event in the Grunion Gazette.

“Beer and tacos also will be highlighted at the Second Annual Long Beach Craft Beer & Taco Festival from 2 to 9 p.m. this Saturday, May 27, at Shoreline Aquatic Park and Lighthouse (200 Aquarium Way). It’s one of several events put on by Chugginbrews, which also produced the Long Beach Craft Beer and Oyster Festival in April, among others.

‘The event for ages 21 and older features a number of local and regional breweries. There also will be local bands, a DJ, local chefs competing for people’s catering needs, as well as food and craft vendors. Special guest musicians include Phoebe Ryan, Bryce Fox and Alarma.

”Additionally, if May is an attendee’s birthday month, free admission is available by each birthday group guest emailing organizers with the birthday guest’s name for group entrance. Birthday groups will have a separate line for early access and all party guests must buy the same VIP entry for entry with the birthday guest. Email for more information.

Or you might try this from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, 6 p.m. for VIPs.

The Newport Beach Beerfest is an all inclusive event bringing guests to the sandy beaches of the Newport Dunes. While there, guests can try unlimited samples of over 150 craft beers, wines, and spirits.

Newport Dunes Resort is a 110-acre resort located at the entrance to the Back Bay Nature Preserve and the Newport Bay Conservancy.

Enjoy the beautiful sunset as this event starts. Live bands and DJ’s set the stage and get the crowd up on their feet.

The “BLACK EYED TEASE” captures the essence of Fergie, Will.I.Am, and Taboo as this epic adventure takes you through classic BEP hits.

No Duh is not just the best tribute to No Doubt & Gwen Stefani, they’re one of the best tribute acts in the world.

The festival is bringing 15 of the city’s best food trucks in town for you to enjoy. Each food truck will have a sample menu to offer featuring $3 and $6 sample items as well as their regular menu.

Enjoy music from the AMP Radio DJ Truck. The event is happening in the reserve Lot of Newport Dunes, inside the Newport Beach Beerfest.

In 2016, it went through more than 150 kegs of beer, in 2015 they used more than 100. In 2017, it will have the most breweries ever at one of our Southern California events.

Last year the festival had a VIP area featuring an extra 12 breweries and a DJ/dance floor. Expect a bigger VIP this year with even more things to come.

And remember it’s all for a great cause. The mission of the Newport Beach 1/1 Foundation as a non-profit organization is to provide community and financial support to the men and families of the 1st Battalion, 1st Marines both during overseas deployments and when training for the next deployment.
