The Symphonic Jazz Orchestra will perform its 15th Anniversary Concert on Sunday, May 7, at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. The 67-member Symphonic Jazz Orchestra, conducted by Music Director Mitch Glickman, will accompany guest vocalist Jane Monheit, who will honor Ella Fitzgerald on her centennial birthday.
This one-of-a-kind celebration, which will take place at the Richard and Karen Carpenter Performing Arts Center in Long Beach, will open with a work by George Duke and feature two exciting world premiere works by Alan Chan and Gordon Goodwin, featuring saxophone soloist Eric Marienthal.
Unfortunately, there are no tickets remaining for the free 3 p.m. event, but tickets may become available at the door starting 1 hour before showtime.
There are still tickets available for the evening performance. The orchestra is offering VIP tickets that include a pre-concert reception with the soloists at 6 p.m., preferred seating and a complimentary SJO CD, for $100 (a $30 tax- deductible donation). Just choose to view the seating chart, then select the red seats when you check out.
