Los Angeles County Museum of Art offers free entry on Tuesday

You’ve waited all month, tomorrow will be you next chance to get into the Los Angeles County Museum of Art FREE of charge from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday. That’s right LACMA offers free entry on the second Tuesday of  every month, as well as after 3 p.m. every day for residents of Los Angeles County.

Visit John McLaughlin Paintings: Total Abstraction before it closes on Sunday, April 16! One of the most important artists of the postwar period, John McLaughlin (1898–1976) created a focused body of geometric paintings that are entirely devoid of any connection to everyday experience, inspired by the Japanese notion of the void.

The exhibition features 52 paintings and a selection of collages and drawings that establish McLaughlin as one of the foremost innovators of total abstraction.

Then stay to watch the film: “Shanghai Express” starring the fabulous Marlene Dietrich at 1 p.m. in the Bing Theater. In the movie, Dietrich plays a loose who woman rediscovers a former lover during a dangerous train ride to Shanghai. Oh, be still my racing heart!

It’s only $2 for seniors 65 years of age and older. Shot in 1932, the 82-minutes film was directed by Josef von Sternberg; written by Jules Furtheman based on the story by Harry Hervey. Dietrich is joined by Clive Brook, Anna May Wong, Warner Oland, Eugene Pallette, Lawrence Grant, Louise Closser Hale, Gustav von Seyffertitz, Emile Chautard, George Blagoi
