Saturday 2/11/2017 at 1: pm a battle played out in Huntington Beach Central Park near the Library. The reenactment of the first war of the American Revolution, hosted by the Huntington Beach Historical Society, was a success on many levels. To have such an activity on the west coast (this being a larger one) gave many people an opportunity of see and maybe experience our countries explosive start.
The “Shot heard around the world” refers to the first shot at the battle of Lexington/Concord on April 19, 1775 when 70 person (mostly local farmers and merchants), later known as minutemen, met and did battle with 700 seasoned British soldiers
The phrase “…The shot heard around the world…” was immortalized in the “Concord Hymn” by Emerson July 4th, 1837.
